5 factors that will ignite momentum
John C. Maxwell said, “Momentum solves 80% of your problems.” Here’s how to build momentum. 🚀
If you’re leading a team, you would know that momentum is your best friend. When you don't have it, everything seems difficult. Momentum is the force that will propel you to success.
Building momentum is akin to launching a rocket. Getting off the ground requires a significant amount of energy, but once you surpass the gravitational force, you can sustain your momentum with minimal exertion.
This doesn’t just apply to work, but to any area in your life (personal finance, fitness, relationships, etc).
Below are factors that fuel momentum. I'll use the acronym "IMAGE" to represent these factors.
INSPIRING VISION (I): An inspiring vision serves as the ignition point for momentum. It inspires and aligns the team, providing a clear direction.
If you lack momentum, it’s very likely that you lack vision. A vision must be clear, consistent, and compelling so that your team is always on the same page as you.
METICULOUS PLANNING (M): Thorough planning is crucial for success. It sets the foundation for a well-coordinated mission. When we ensure that every detail is considered, it reduces the risk of unexpected issues.
ACTION ALL THE WAY (A): Momentum requires consistent action. When you actively work towards the vision, it translates into tangible progress.
GRIT AND RESILIENCE (G): As you build momentum, you’ll face the inevitable force of gravity ie. roadblocks. Grit and resilience will fuel you with unwavering determination to overcome setbacks.
EFFICIENT SYSTEMS (E): Momentum is supported by systems. An efficient system should be responsive, measurable and proactive enough to sustain the momentum gained.
Remembering the acronym "IMAGE" can serve as a quick and memorable guide for leaders to build momentum for your missions and endeavours.🎯
